Atlanta Braves vs. Toronto Blue Jays Preview

The hot start for the Atlanta Braves has cooled off after losing three of four at home to the Mets and Marlins, and they’ll take their show on the road to the cool blue north to take on the Blue Jays for a three game set.

The Blue Jays have been playing pretty well so far with a 5-4 record. Atlanta’s enters with a 6-3 record themselves, and narrowly holding onto first place ahead of the streaking New York Mets.

Toronto’s Sky Dome or whatever it’s now called (Rogers Centre maybe – they spell Center wrong, btw) isn’t noted as the greatest place to play baseball. They have the synthetic turf, but it’s some Canadian kind or something because it’s not what everyone else in the world uses. Apparently it’s a little higher of a cut (design?) than the rest so the infield plays slightly slower than players are used to on grass, or general synthetic turf.

Could this be an issue for Adrelton Simmons? Who knows. It’s a game not in the United States so that’s annoying enough, now some weird turf too. This is like playing in Montreal’s old empty stadium back in the 90s when someone who holler and the whole place would echo. Man, that was just ridiculous.

This weekend series kicks off a nine game road trip for the Braves. First up is Toronto, then on to the Mets and finally next weekend in Philadelphia to play the Phillies.

Game times for this weekend are 7:00 Friday and 1:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
