2014 vs. Pacers
Enter Mike Budenholzer and goodbye Josh Smith. The rebuild to be formed in the image of the San Antonio Spurs was on by adding DeMarre Carroll and Paul Milsap to the starting rotation that included Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver.
Horford missed significant time once again with an injury, but the Hawks slid into the playoffs as the #8 seed with a 38-44 record. The Pacers were heavy favorites, but like 2008, the Hawks would make some noise.
Oddly enough, the Hawks won two road games in the series as they pushed it to the brink. It took all seven games to put them out, proving this team had some grit and tenacity for the future.
Little did we know the Hawks would improve by 22 games in 2014-15 and be the #1 seed in the East…
