2015 Atlanta Falcons Schedule, Initial Reactions

At 8PM this evening, the NFL released the official game schedules for all 32 franchises.  While we have known the opposition and match locations for some time, we now officially know the exact order of the Falcons’ slate of games.  Here’s the 2015 Atlanta Falcons Schedule.

The first part of the schedule that stands out to me is that the Falcons will have played the NFC East in its entirety after Week 5.  It will be crucial for Atlanta to win at least two of these games to avoid falling in another hole like last year.

The Atlanta Falcons schedule features two primetime games this season: A Week 1 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football at the Georgia Dome and a Week 6 contest with the hated rival New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.  I was anticipating maybe a third or fourth primetime game, but then again Atlanta Falcons only won six games last year.  We as fans should feel pleased with the two on the slate.

  • The easiest part of the season comes from Week 7 to Week 9 and into the Week 10 Bye.  Atlanta will face Tennessee, Tampa Bay, and reeling San Francisco before taking on the AFC juggernaut Indianapolis Colts in Week 11.

Atlanta has a tough start and end to their season.  Weeks 1-4 include Philadelphia, New York, Dallas, and Houston.  Weeks 14-17 feature three division games including two with the reigning NFC South Champion Carolina Panthers.

The 2015 Atlanta Falcons Schedule feels skewed, but navigable.  Dan Quinn needs to have his team playing well immediately out of the gate if the Falcons want to have momentum going into the easier middle half of their season.  Going 3-3 in the first six weeks is a fairly reasonable goal. The team may need to carry out that goal if they want to get back in the playoffs.

Still, it’s a long way away from when the Eagles come to Atlanta and the NFL Regular Season officially begins.  Until then, Rise Up!
