New Hawks Owner To Be Antony Ressler, Grant Hill Involved

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, billionaire Antony Ressler is in the process of purchasing The Atlanta Hawks from majority owner Bruce Levenson. Ressler leads what is known as the “Grant Hill group” in this sale process. The new Hawks Owner will spend between $800 Million and $1 Billion to buy the top seeded team in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
Ressler has made his fortune in private equity and seriously considered purchasing the Los Angeles Clippers last spring. Former NBA All-Star Grant Hill will be an investor within the group. Current Hawks CEO Steve Koonin will keep his position with the new ownership group. Priority number one for Ressler is to lock up Coach Bud for the long-term. The rest of the NBA owners need to approve of the sale for it become official.
