State of Georgia College Baseball Roundup
College baseball is alive and well in late April – so let’s take a look around the Peach State to see how the teams are doing…
Georgia Tech
- Record: 24-16 (9-12)
- RPI: 26
- T-3rd in Coastal Division
The Yellow Jackets have hit a bit of a losing streak getting swept at Boston College last weekend. They came back home on Tuesday and lost to Kennesaw State 11-6. They host Clemson this weekend.
Georgia
- Record: 21-20 (6-11)
- RPI: 95
- 6th in Eastern Division
The Bulldogs are hanging on to 12th place overall (final tourney seed) in the SEC by 1/2 game. One of the games this past weekend with LSU was cancelled, and that may have been a good thing since they were getting pounded. With a mid-week win over Clemson, the Dawgs swept the season home-and-home with the Tigers. Up next is a trip to Auburn.
Georgia State
- Record: 26-15 (13-3)
- RPI: 128
- 1st in Sun Belt
The Panthers are having a great season so far in the Sun Belt. If they can keep things up they’ll find themselves in a Regional. GSU is currently in the midst of a seven game winning streak which they’ll take to Mobile to play the South Alabama Jaguars.
Georgia Southern
- Record: 24-17 (14-7)
- RPI: 96
- 2nd in Sun Belt
Southern is always a baseball powerhouse, and this year is no different. It’s a GA battle for the top spot in the Sun Belt this year. After a road sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock last year the Eagles will host ULM this weekend.
Kennesaw State
- Record: 22-19 (6-5)
- RPI: 103
- 5th in Atlantic Sun
KSU surprised everyone last year by making a Super Regional. This year the record isn’t great but the RPI is really good considering their conference. The Owls have a shot at winning the conference and making a Regional again. On deck this week is a trip to Lipscomb.
