2011: LB Akeem Dent, Georgia (91st Overall)
Usually I’m fired up when a former Dawg plays for the Falcons. Unfortunately, Akeem Dent never really did anything to move the needle for me. Dent never played quickly for the Falcons, resulting in an underwhelming amount of recorded tackles. Had he not been traded to Houston for backup QB and Marietta native TJ Yates during training camp last year, there was no way he could have found on a role on Quinn’s team. Former UGA DC Willie Martinez never got Dent’s motor revving in Athens and it showed with the Falcons. I have to believe Dimitroff feels tremendous pressure to draft local guys from fans and because of Akeem’s lack of success in Atlanta, TD chose not to draft Jeremiah Attaochu out of Georgia Tech last spring.
