Grading Dimitroff’s 2nd and 3rd Round Picks

2012: C Peter Konz, Wisconsin (55th Overall)
Why isn’t Konz’ game translating to the NFL level? He played for Bret Bielema at Wisconsin who played for legendary Hayden Fry at Iowa. These two Big Ten schools breed great offensive linemen. Konz starred for the Badgers alongside two-time former teammate Gabe Carimi. When asked to play center in 2013 following impressive Todd McClure, Konz was a boy among men. C Joe Hawley and last year’s undrafted rookie James Stone outperformed Peter immensely on a mediocre offensive line. His college success and ability to play multiple positions in Madison could keep him in the league a little longer. Maybe it’s time for a change of scenery for the former Wisconsin Badger?

2012: OT Lamar Holmes, Southern Miss (84th Overall)
Holmes had a rough 2013 season for the Falcons to say the least. Though still a work in progress, he did improve in 2014 under then offensive line coach Mike Tice. He played RT once Jake Matthews had to cover Ryan’s blind side after the Sam Baker injury in Week 2. This is a make-or-break year for Lamar as I’m not sure how he fits into new OC Kyle Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme.
