2. Tom Glavine
Tom Glavine was selected by the Braves in the 2nd round of the 1984 draft. After some rough years in the late 80s he got things worked out in Atlanta starting with his 1991 Cy Young season. That kick-started a Hall of Fame career that included 305 wins, two Cy Young Awards and the best game ever pitched by an Atlanta Brave.
You could put all five 20-win seasons to the side and just talk about Game 6 of the 1995 World Series when it comes to Tom Glavine. He was so masterful when the Braves were desperately trying to get over the hump. They did just that with his eight innings of shutout baseball, and won 1-0.
1. Chipper Jones
The #1 pick of the 1990 draft is #1 on this list. The future Hall of Famer played his entire career in Atlanta. Perhaps no player in all of professional sports is more synonymous with Atlanta than Chipper Jones.
400+ home runs, .300 + batting average, 8x all-star. He won the MVP in 1999 at age 27 and the batting title in 2008 at age 36. It was a remarkable career for Chipper Jones – Atlanta’s greatest draft pick.
