Phoenix Suns

Phoenix plays with a certain edge for HC Jeff Hornacek that comes across a little abrasive.  It’s like they’re trying to exercise physical dominance to make themselves relevant in a very deep Western Conference.  Perhaps its reminiscent to the Jerry Sloan style Hornacek learned as a great player for the Utah Jazz in the 90’s.  Wherever it comes from, it’s starting to rub opposing teams the wrong way.

You can play physical and still be respected.  Just look at the Grit N’ Grind Memphis Grizzlies.  They’re a fun team to watch with their throwback style inside game.  Marcus Thornton could help in a culture change in the Valley of the Sun.  Phoenix is an outstanding basketball town that should have its Suns in the playoffs just about every season.

Don’t get me wrong.  This team can contend for a 6-8 seed in the West annually because the Suns have enough talent.  But I feel that Thornton’s work ethic and leadership coming off the bench for Phoenix could instill a positive winning mentality on a team that likes to pick fights with opposing players.
