I jumped for joy when Leonard Floyd decided to come back for his Junior Year with the Dawgs this fall.  He could have gone pro after spending a year at junior college before arriving in Athens in 2013.  Good news for Dawg Nation, bad news for everybody else.

Floyd is an immensely talented pass rusher for Mark Richt’s Georgia Bulldogs.  In his first two seasons with the Dawgs, Floyd accumulated 12.5 sacks and 18 tackles for a loss.  That might not sound all that impressive but considering how deep and dynamic Georgia’s linebacker corps has been these last several seasons, I would still be worried for my life if Leonard Floyd was chasing me around in the backfield.

The only real hole in his game is in stopping the run.  That Florida game was brutal.  But should Floyd improve in that facet of his game, he could have an All-SEC, potentially an All-American junior season playing Between the Hedges.

I believe that Floyd benefits greatly in the Dawgs ferocious pass rush as fellow OLBs Jordan Jenkins and Lorenzo Carter will both be chomping at the bit to knock opposing quarterbacks into the ground, too.  Though Georgia has arguably the deepest LB corps in the country, I feel that Leonard Floyd is the biggest weapon the Dawgs have on defense in 2015.
