Atlanta Falcons: Top 5 Players Heading Into 2015
By John Buhler
After a four-year stretch of consecutive Pro Bowls (2008-11), wide receiver Roddy White is still a very productive playmaker in the Atlanta Falcons offense. In his 10 season with the Dirty Birds, White has set a franchise record for touchdown catches with 62 and yards receiving with 10,357. At this stage of his illustrious Atlanta Falcons career, Roddy White is essentially a guarantee to have his name in the Falcons Ring of Honor when he decides to retire from the NFL.
At 34 years of age, I believe that Roddy still has a few more years of decent productivity as a number two wideout in a top-tier passing attack with the Atlanta Falcons. Despite having two consecutive down years in 2013-14, White still can account for 80 receptions for 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns as a crafty veteran possession receiver.
White’s goal at this point is to win a Super Bowl for the only franchise he will ever play for, The Atlanta Falcons. With a new coaching staff predicated on giving the Falcons’ formerly toothless defense some bite these next few years, I think Roddy plays until he’s 37 or at least when Rookie Justin Hardy is ready to take over the reigns as Atlanta’s premier possession receiver. All the while Roddy will continue to bolster an impressive resume that could potentially get him into Canton when his career does come to a close, on his terms.
