Goodness gracious did Georgia eat some humble pie in this shellacking courtesy of Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.  At the time UGA was #3 in the country and still undefeated.  ESPN’s College GameDay was in Athens and I don’t ever remember Athens being that amped up for a home football game.  Dawg Nation thought that a victory over Saban’s improved Tide team would be enough to get the Georgia Bulldogs back to being the top team in the nation.

We thought we were so cool with our highly publicized “Blackout Bama Game” that we thought it was actually going to work.  Instead the Tide slaughtered Mark Richt’s Dawgs in the first half 31-0.  Though UGA made it somewhat respectable in the second half, Georgia was completely soul crushed heading into half time.

I kind of wished that Richt would have just called it quits at halftime because it was that terrible to endure.  As I was walking out of Sanford when the game ended to people screaming ‘Roll Tide!’ at me and throwing garbage in my general direction, I was thinking about how glad I was that Bama played in the other division and we won’t have to deal with them every year.  From that horrendous beatdown, I learned that Nick Saban had brought Alabama back to national prominence.  The Tide was about to become a dynasty and there was nothing any of us could do about it.

Anyone in Dawg Nation that wants to see UGA wear black jerseys again needs to find a new team to cheer for immediately.  I’d almost rather see Georgia wear orange than to even think about putting on black uniforms again.  It was that bad.  Never again.
