Atlanta Braves: Five All-Star Pitcher Wish List
By John Buhler
Getting the Chicago White Sox’s best player LHP Chris Sale would be a nearly impossible task for John Hart. Sale is a 4x All-Star for the Boys on the South Side and can’t opt out of his deal in Chicago until after 2017.
But if you’ve ever watched Sale pitch, you know that he is a strikeout machine, winning 61.2 of his games as a starter. Could you imagine how good this guy could become if he was playing for a team with real playoff aspirations. That’s not to say that the Chicago White Sox can reach the postseason in the coming years, but it’s aggravating to see a pitcher as talented as Chris Sale never make the playoffs.

Postseason opportunities was arguably the primary reason RHP Greg Maddux left the North Side of Chicago to come play for the Atlanta Braves in 1993. Even with his unconventional delivery from the left side, I don’t think the Braves organization would have any issue in pursuing Sale at some point in the next few years. Look at LHP Alex Wood‘s mechanics!
I’m always pulling for staff aces that play for non-contending teams to find a way to reach October, whether they carry their current team on their back or join a contending team at the trade deadline with the hopes of chasing the dream of winning a World Series. It will be costly and probably unlikely, but I know that Atlanta would fall in love with LHP Chris Sale in its rotation.
