player. 90. . RHP. Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Jordan Zimmerman. 27

I feel that most of Braves Country would agree with me on this: we don’t care for the Washington Nationals.  Natitude rubs me the wrong way and some of the players are straight aggravating and I don’t enjoy tolerating them during Braves-Nationals series.  However, there are two player on the Nationals that I adore as a fan of the game of baseball.  I believe that any team would want Anthony Rendon or Jordan Zimmermann on their team.

Jordan Zimmermann has been the best pitcher on the Washington Nationals the last several seasons.  Whether Washington wanted to admit it or not, JZ was their ace until the offseason acquisition of Max Scherzer.  It seemed to me that every time Zimmermann pitched against the Braves, the Nationals ended up winning the game.  That’s a hyperbole but do I love watching this righty pitch.

Zimmermann is a 2x All-Star for the Nats and will enter free agency this winter.  With so much money invested in Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper, and countless other Nationals, I’m not so sure that Washington will pay Zim top dollar to keep him in DC.  Zimmermann will have many, many suitors in free agency as arguably the best available pitcher on the market this winter.

Should John Hart put together a strong presentation and project Atlanta as a World Series caliber team in the coming years, wouldn’t be absolutely amazing to essentially rob the Washington Nationals of their workhorse and watch Zim dominate in Braves uniform?  Of all the pitchers I’ve mentioned, signing Jordan Zimmermann this offseason isn’t all that farfetched.  A boy can dream, right?
