Atlanta Braves’ 1st Half Edition: Around The Perimeter, Eps. 1.

Good Morning, Atlanta Braves’ and Atlanta Sports fans!  This is the premiere episode of Around The Perimeter.

Around The Perimeter will be ATL All Day’s weekly podcast where Editor John Buhler and Staff Writer Jonathan Savitske discuss anything and everything happening with our favorite professional and collegiate teams in the Atlanta Sports Region. Senior Editor Chris Headrick may join us as well as he’s able. We’ll also have special guests from time-to-time.

In the inaugural episode of Around The Perimeter, Jon and I discuss the 2015 Atlanta Braves surprisingly positive first half.  Though the team is five games below .500 at the All-Star Break, there is still plenty to cheer about in Braves Country as Atlanta still plays competitive ball in spite of what would normally be a rebuilding year.

We also talk about the Atlanta Hawks’ free agency moves in re-signing PF Paul Millsap, trading for C Tiago Splitter formerly of the San Antonio Spurs, and bringing in wing Justin Holiday into the mix.  We also touch on NBA Summer League being held in Las Vegas and if the 2015-16 Atlanta Hawks are actually better equipped to make an NBA Finals run in 2016.

Atlanta United FC had its official name and logo reveal on the 7th of July.  Soccer fans and the City of Atlanta are beyond thrilled for the MLS to start play at New Atlanta Stadium in Spring 2017.  John Buhler talks about how much excitement is in the Atlanta region over United FC and all the great things that are coming with Darren Eales and Carlos Bocanegra at the helm of Falcons Owner Arthur Blank’s newest professional team.

Around The Perimeter makes some stops discussing the College Football landscape for both Georgia and Georgia Tech, wondering if either Power 5 School in the State can make the 2nd Annual College Football Playoff.

Jon and I finish with some optimistic takes on the new Dan Quinn Era of the Atlanta Falcons.  Are the 2015 Atlanta Falcons a playoff team?  Can the Dirty Birds navigate their way through a favorable schedule?
