Lorenzo Carter enters his sophomore season with the Georgia Bulldogs with much promise as an outside pass rusher.  He is a pre-season All-SEC third team selection as the Dawgs’ next great OLB.  As a true freshman in 2014, Carter played in all 13 games, starting in 5 on the outside for Jeremy Pruitt.  His best game came against the Kentucky Wildcats with 9 tackles with 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for a loss of yardage.

Pruitt likes to use Carter in many pass rushing packages.  I’ve seen him line up on the outside and up on the line for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2014.  Though he may start the season out third on the Dawgs’ OLB depth chart, I believe that Coach Pruitt finds many creative ways to get Lorenzo Carter on the field in 2015.

I sense that his raw talented becomes more refined this fall as Carter learns to become more effective in stopping the run.  Should he be able to do that, he could have a big breakout year for the Dawgs on defense.

For me, Lorenzo Carter is the biggest wild card on Pruitt’s entire defense.  We know that he will perform as a true sophomore, but he could very well become a star in the SEC by the end of the year.  His ceiling as a pass rusher is incredibly high and I’m looking forward to seeing Lorenzo Carter progress in Year Two in Athens.
