Georgia Bulldogs: Top 5 Defensive Players for 2015

Jordan Jenkins thrives playing on the outside for LBs Coach Kevin Sherrer at the JACK position.  In each of his first three seasons in Athens, Jenkins recorded 5 sacks.  His consistency and senior leadership have him as a pre-season first team All-SEC selection as on outside linebacker.  He is also on the Chuck Bednarik watch list for the nation’s top defensive player.

Jenkins was one of the three Georgia Bulldogs to represent the team at the 2015 SEC Media Days held in Hoover, Alabama this past week.  Jordan says that a ‘culture change’ occurred in the Georgia locker room within the last year and a half with many players transferring and leaving the program.

The senior leader on the Dawgs defense will challenge his teammates to perform better on the field in games and in practices.  In a linebacker corps that is missing its two staples on the inside with Ramik Wilson now on the Kansas City Chiefs and Amarlo Herrera now on the Indianapolis Colts, the Dawgs’ front seven will have to lean on Jenkins in 2015.

Not only does Jenkins accept the role as leader, he embraces it.  I’ve felt for a while now that the Georgia Bulldogs have not a charismatic leader on their defense for some time.  Yes, there have been great players who lead by example on defense in the last few years.  But I haven’t felt a defensive player wants to lead as badly as Jordan Jenkins plans to for the 2015 Georgia Bulldogs.
