William Moore. 4. player. 44. . SS. Missouri

He’s always ready.  William Moore aka Willy Mo.  Moore has been a staple in the Atlanta Falcons secondary since his 2nd round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft.  He earned a Pro Bowl invitation for his successful season leading the Falcons’ defensive backfield in 2012.

Moore is a hard-hitting, versatile safety for Raheem Morris to work with.  He is definitely a leader on this young Falcons’ defense and the unit’s play seems to elevate when he’s on the field.  Since 2012, Moore has had his issues with injuries and the Falcons have suffered in his absence.

While I do think that there are some young players on this team’s defense that have higher ceilings than the former Missouri Tiger, how Willy Mo plays this fall will decide if it’s the secondary that leads the way for Quinn’s new look defense.

William Moore has been a favorite Atlanta Falcons of mine for a while.  I love how selfless he was in switching between free and strong safety these last few seasons in Atlanta.  That just means that he is a cerebral player capable of starting at multiple positions.  So cerebral in fact that he has palm trees and swimming pools in his home.  Moore inspired me to name my fantasy last year The Living Room Palm Trees.  Sadly my team finished with an identical 6-10 record to the 2014 Atlanta Falcons, not being able to partake in the playoffs.

In all seriousness I believe that if he can stay on the field in 2015, William Moore’s veteran leadership could be a crucial building block in cultivating the Dirty South’s version of the Legion of Boom.  Though he may not star in a future, high-profile Atlanta Falcons’ secondary, I think that Moore‘s on-field coaching only makes this team better in 2015.
