In my opinion, no coach has done a better job of turning a program around like Bill Snyder did with his Kansas State Wildcats.  Before taking over in the late 1980’s, K-State was a dreadful college football program, perpetually in the cellar of the Big Eight.  Essentially the Wildcats were Oklahoma, Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri’s whipping boy.

Basically Bill Snyder took a football program with a rough 100 year stretch than Vanderbilt and turned KSU into a perennial contender in the Big 12.  He transformed the Wildcats’ program completely, modeling it after his experience as OC on Hayden Fry’s staff at Iowa.  You’ll notice the similarities between K-State’s fierce-looking Power Cat logo and the famous Hawkeye emblem synonymous with Iowa football.

Snyder came back in 2009 out of retirement to again coach K-State and I want Mark Richt to have the chance to compete against a man of such high character as Bill Snyder.  This matchup might need rapid acceleration for Richt to have his meeting with K-State while Snyder still roams the sidelines in the Little Apple.

I think Dawgs fans would enjoy going to Aggieville.  We could probably ask our friends at Auburn what the Little Apple was like.  I’ve seen that KSU has done major renovations to Bill Snyder Family Stadium in the last few years.  K-State would likely enjoy coming to see a game in the Classic City, too.  Time is not on our side to see Richt and Snyder’s teams meet up unless both teams make the same Playoff in the next few years.  To me, that’s not impossible but likely the only way these two teams meet going forward.
