The Atlanta Falcons had a ton riding on this past NFL Draft. Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff needed to get value with every selection as he had missed on many mid-round picks in his first seven seasons in the Atlanta front office. But being paired with new HC Dan Quinn who came from a great organization top to bottom in the Seattle Seahawks brought out the best in Dimitroff as Atlanta found value with all seven of their picks in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Though it is way too early tell at this point, the Atlanta Falcons’ 2015 Draft might have been Dimitroff’s best. It seemed like every pro prospect the Falcons selected this year magically fell to them. Given TD’s reputation for moving up in the draft to get his guys, he only did it once this draft by moving to the top of the 5th round. Patience paid off for the Atlanta Falcons this draft.

OLB Vic Beasley could have gone in the Top 5, falling to Atlanta at 8. CB Jalen Collins had first round grades but injuries at LSU caused him to fall to the early 2nd. RB Tevin Coleman was an All-American at Indiana and would have gone in the first round in a different era of the NFL. And both WR Justin Hardy and DT Grady Jarrett were Day Three steals for the Atlanta Falcons in the 4th and 5th round respectively. Even 7th rounders DB Akeem King and OT Jake Rodgers could contend for roster spots as rookies.
With Atlanta coming off a mediocre 6-10 2014 Season, expect many of these rookies to get ample playing time on a very competitive and exciting team. A few of these first year players could end up starting at some point this year. Here are the Top 5 Rookies for the Atlanta Falcons heading into 2015 Training Camp.
