The CONCACAF Gold Cup Semifinals will take place tomorrow at the Georgia Dome, as the City of Atlanta welcomes the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team to town for the first time since 1977, with the U.S. taking on Jamaica.

The U.S. Men’s National Team enters tomorrow’s game against Jamaica feeling confident following an absolute rout of Cuba on Saturday by a score of 6-0. Clint Dempsey had his first career hat-trick in international play, scoring 3 of the 6 U.S. goals.

LA Galaxy Striker Gyasi Zardes increased the lead for the U.S. on Sunday, and continued his good play as of late. Zardes continues to impress pundits and fans alike with his raw athleticism. The U.S. Men’s National Team has not had an athlete like Zardes in a long time, as he consistently displays an affinity for effective passing and possesses a great strike.

Both Aron Johannsson and Omar Gonzalez both added 2 more goals to round out the scoring for the U.S. Men’s team on Saturday. In their contest against Cuba, the U.S. completed their highest scoring effort in a match in United States’ CONCACAF Gold Cup History.

USMNT Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann has had this team playing exceptionally well for over the past month, with huge victories over both the Netherlands and Germany in international friendlies in the month of June. Since taking the helm of the USMNT in 2011, Klinsmann’s efforts to increase soccer development programs within the United States is now paying dividends, as young players such as Gyasi Zardes and Bobby Wood have made significant impacts to the club as of late.

All signs point to sell-outs for the U.S. Men’s National Team game against Jamaica, as well as the Mexican National Team’s game against Panama. With the recent announcements and excitement surrounding Atlanta United FC, it will be interesting to see how  Atlanta and its fans react to hosting two high-profile soccer games at the Georgia Dome.

I see the CONCACAF Gold Cup Semi-Finals as a good measuring stick for Atlanta United FC officials, looking for ways to continue to gauge interest and support of soccer in Atlanta. If both these Gold Cup semifinal games do end up selling out, it will serve to reinforce the belief that not only can the city support a professional soccer team, but an MLS team can thrive in Atlanta.

The Georgia Dome will be rocking as the U.S. Mens National Team plays Jamaica tomorrow night. It is great for both the team and the future of soccer  Atlanta to know that there is a massive fan base behind the sport here in the state of Georgia.
