Georgia Bulldogs: Five Potential Breakout Freshmen
By John Buhler
Don’t worry. I didn’t forget our biggest signing of the 2015 UGA Recruiting Class. I’m doing this alphabetically by last name. Like SEC offensive lines, if I failed to remember Big Trent Thompson, I will certainly pay for it. When you’re getting a recruit that has Warren Sapp comparisons at defensive tackle, you have a very special player on your hands.
Tracy Rocker was a major reason Thompson decided to play in state for the Georgia Bulldogs. Trent loves that Rocker won the Outland and Lombardi Trophies while at Auburn. However you want to dissect him, Trent Thompson is a Top 5 player in the 2015 High School Recruiting Class.

You don’t think, you just start a player like Trent Thompson right away. He’s likely going to the NFL after three seasons in Athens so Mark Richt, Jeremy Pruitt, and Tracy Rocker better make the most of Thompson’s services. His combination of size, strength, speed and footwork make him a blue chip prospect even as an 18-year-old.
But I do also like the intangibles that Trent Thompson brings to the Georgia Bulldogs. He went to Macon Co. HS to convince Roquan Smith to come to Athens with him on signing day. I think Trent is very excited to play alongside 2017 5-Star UGA Commit Julian Rochester for at least two years. You look at Trent as a program changing building block. We’ve heard from his high school coach that he is the ultimate teammate and aspires to make them better on and off the gridiron.
Of all the incoming freshman to the University of Georgia Bulldogs football program, I know that Trent Thompson will star in his first season playing Between the Hedges. Big things are coming for Georgia Football. The 2015 Class was fantastic and the 2016 Class could very well be the best in the country by March of next year if it isn’t already. Get here, football season! Go Dawgs!
