Jeb Blazevich seems like he is the next great tight end to play for the Dawgs, joining the likes of Randy McMichael, Benjamin Watson, Leonard Pope, Orson Charles, and Arthur Lynch.  Blaze’s sure-handedness as a freshman allowed him to contribute right away for the Georgia Bulldogs.

I believe that Jeb will have an outstanding career at UGA not just because he attends Tight End U, but because his new Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer knows how to get the most out of his tight ends in his offensive scheme.

More from UGA Football

In the NFL, Coach Schottenheimer used the tight ends a ton in his short-to-mid range when he was part of both the St. Louis Rams and the New York Jets coaching staffs.  Players like Dustin Keller, Jared Cook, and Lance Kendricks thrived under Schotty’s system.  Expect not just Blazevich but the rest of the UGA TE group to play well for Coach Schottenheimer.

With Georgia losing two key safety valves in their passing game from last year, possession receivers Michael Bennett and Chris Conley, whoever ends up winning the starting quarterback job should feel comfortable of completing passes to the young stud TE Jeb Blazevich.

I’m not saying that Jeb will contend for the Mackey Award this season as the nation’s top tight end, but when his career comes to a close in Athens, I could see him as a finalist, possibly a winner of the award by the 2017 Season.  Keep an eye on Jeb Blazevich in 2015.  I have a feeling that he is going to become a very special player for the Dawgs this fall.
