I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. John Edgar “Jeb” Blazevich will have a monster sophomore season playing in Brian Schottenheimer’s offense. How Coach Schottenheimer features tight ends in his passing game should make Blazevich and the rest of TE Coach John Lilly’s group salivate.
As a true freshman last year, Blaze played in all 13 games, recording 13 receptions for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns. Blazevich outperformed expectations in his first season at Georgia. Usually it is in the sophomore season where UGA TEs become great for Tight End U. After a solid showing in 2014, perhaps Blazevich becomes the reliable third down and red zone target for whoever becomes the next starting quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Coach Schottenheimer has shown a proclivity to playing two tight end sets while calling plays for both the New York Jets and St. Louis Rams. With opposing linebackers and safeties having to account for Blazevich and another strong pass-catching tight end, expect Blaze to shine in this new system.
I might have set the bar high for Jeb Blazevich as a true sophomore this fall, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Jeb with close to 50 receptions, 850 receiving yards and 6 scores. My rationality behind this is that UGA is losing a ton of production in terms of possession receiving with the graduations of both Michael Bennett and Chris Conley. Blazevich could rise to the occasion in 2015 and contend for the John Mackey Award should UGA have a strong sophomore season playing Between the Hedges for the Dawgs.
