Georgia Bulldogs Practice at Flowery Branch Due to Rain

The Georgia Bulldogs still practiced yesterday despite the rain as the Dawgs headed to the Atlanta Falcons headquarters in Flowery Branch to get some work in at their indoor facility.  Defensive players LB Lorenzo Carter, CB Malkom Parrish, and CB Reggie Wilkerson met with the media back in Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall after practice.

All three defensive players thought it was cool to practice down in Flowery Branch despite the hour commute.  Sophomore OLB Lorenzo Carter says that the guys aren’t too down about not having an indoor practice facility in Athens but look forward to the state of the art facility being constructed.

  • Carter later added that the team did a good job of mentally preparing for practice despite the unforeseen circumstances.  It’s comforting to know that Mark Richt and his coaching staff have the proper protocol in place should weather be a factor like it was today.  The Georgia Bulldogs apparently got a strong practice in despite having to incorporate two hours worth of bus rides.

Redshirt Sophomore CB Reggie Wilkerson talked about his rehabilitation from a torn ACL is going.  Though he doesn’t blame TE Jordan Davis for causing the injury in a collision during camp last year, Wilkerson anticipates being a factor in the Georgia Bulldogs secondary for Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt this fall.

According to Sophomore CB Malkom Parrish, the competition for starting spots in the defensive backfield is too close to tell who’s leading.  While I would assume that Dominick Sanders and Quincy Mauger are safely starters for Coach Pruitt this fall, I see Parrish certainly in the mix for more playing time in 2015.  Malkom sees himself as being able to play both safety and STAR for the Dawgs this season.  Versatility will ultimately help get the true sophomore some more playing time in a very competitive UGA defensive backfield.

Every day from now until September 5th counts tremendously for the Georgia Bulldogs.  Even in days of bad weather, the Dawgs cannot afford to mess a day of practice, so Mark Richt and his staff have to get creative to not lose anytime.  Georgia is fortunate that Flowery Branch is only an hour away and that the Atlanta Falcons organization was more than accommodating this afternoon.

Only 17 more days until it’s time for the Georgia Bulldogs to tee it up Between the Hedges.  This 2015 season is upon us and the ULM Warhawks will be in the Classic City before you know it. The anticipation is too much at this point.  Go Dawgs!
