Chris Withrow came to the Atlanta Braves along with Juan Uribe in the trade that sent Alberto Callaspo and others to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Withrow seems like more of a throw-in in this deal considering his age and his current recovery from Tommy John, but he could become an important part of the Braves effort to revamp the bullpen in 2016.

Withrow could offer the Braves more than just another bullpen piece, he has the stuff and makeup to make a legitimate challenge for the title of, “Future Closer of the Atlanta Braves.” Over 46 appearances in 2013 and 2014 with the Dodgers, Withrow sported a 2.73 ERA with 71 Ks in just 56 innings of work. Now, one caveat is the walks (always with the walks this season, it seems).
He had an unfortunately high BB/9 rate of 5.0 in those 46 appearances, which is the same as his career minor league BB/9 rate. If he can manage to reign in the control, Withrow could turn in to a very dependable piece in the back-end of the Braves rebuilt bullpen.
Admittedly, Withrow is a long shot to join the Atlanta Braves this season (he has not even begun rehabbing from his December 2014 back surgery) but John Hart & Co. might be interested in getting a quick peek at what this guy has to offer in late September.
