Georgia Bulldogs: 9 on Preseason All-SEC Coaches’ Teams

The Georgia Bulldogs have a roster chock full of talented players heading into the 2015 Regular Season.  Georgia had nine players named to the Preseason All-SEC Coaches’ First, Second, or Third teams this afternoon.

On the first team, the Georgia Bulldogs feature four fantastic football players.  Sensational Sophomore RB Nick Chubb was one of two tailbacks on the first team.  Senior LT and leader of the offensive line John Theus was one of four offensive linemen (tackles and guards in this list) to make the All-SEC First Team.  Defensively, Senior OLB Jordan Jenkins was one of three linebackers to make the squad.  And don’t forget about Special Teams as the SEC Coaches view UGA Senior PK Marshall Morgan as the best in the conference.

  • The second team has three Georgia Bulldogs on it.  Junior RG Greg Pyke is one of the four offensive lineman on the All-SEC Coaches’ Second Team.  RS Senior WR Malcolm Mitchell is also on the second team offense as one of two WRs on that particular squad.  No Dawgs appear on the 2nd Team Defense, but again the Georgia Bulldogs do have somebody on special teams, True Sophomore KR Isaiah McKenzie.

And on the All-SEC Coaches’ Third Team, Georgia features two more DGDs: OLBs Leonard Floyd and Lorenzo Carter are two of the linebackers to make the 3rd Team representing the Georgia Bulldogs.

All nine players to make one of these three times are certainly deserving and none of the nine to make one shock me in the slightest.  I’m glad to see Greg Pyke make the second team because the SEC needs to know how incredible he is laying guard for the Dawgs.  It promising to see the Georgia Bulldogs well represented in all three phases.  Seeing the OLB Law Firm of Carter, Floyd, and Jenkins all make it brings a smile to my face.

I didn’t expect to see UGA have a quarterback or a defensive lineman make the team as both positions are losing a ton of veteran experience entering 2015.  Maybe True Freshman DT Trent Thompson makes an All-SEC this fall?  What was odd though is that Safety Dominick Sanders didn’t make a team as arguably the Dawgs best player in the secondary.  Perhaps Dom has to prove to the rest of the conference in his sophomore season how special he is.

Lastly, I think the coaches missed the boat on two great tight ends on their teams.  I love our strong sophomore TE Jeb Blazevich, but how does Vanderbilt’s Steven Scheu not make a team??? I know Vandy is coming off a down year but I thought he was the best TE in the SEC last season.  Could QB turnover be the main culprit in Scheu’s absence? This guy can flat out play.  Vandy TE rant over.

By having nine guys make one of these three teams means that the Georgia Bulldogs have some players.  But will the Dawgs put it all together for a special 2015 season for HC Mark Richt? Only 11 more days until we get to find out.  The Georgia Bulldogs will host the ULM Warhawks Between The Hedges on September 5th.  Forever, Go Dawgs!
