Atlanta Braves Welcome Yankees to Turner Field for Weekend Series
The Atlanta Braves welcome the New York Yankees to Turner Field this weekend, coming off a disappointing series loss to the lowly Colorado Rockies.
The Yankees will oppose the Atlanta Braves on weekend where Turner Field is certain to be packed with more New York fans than Braves fans. The Braves have struggled mightily the last two weeks, losing 9 out of their last 10 games and 11 out of their last 14 games. Since being 42-42 at the All-Star Break, the Atlanta Braves have gone 12-31.

This weekend will also mark the return of former Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann in his first time playing at Turner Field on an opposing team. McCann played for the Atlanta Braves from 2005-2013 before leaving in free agency to sign with the Yankees. He should be well received from all the Braves fans in attendance. Nick Swisher will also oppose his former team this weekend.

Let’s take a look at the pitching match-ups for this weekend:
Friday: Williams Perez (4-4, 4.76 ERA) vs. Masahiro Tanaka (9-6, 3.61 ERA)
In Friday’s game, Williams Perez toes the rubber for the Atlanta Braves and opposes the Yankees’ Masahiro Tanaka. Perez got shelled in his last outing against the Chicago Cubs and will look to rebound. Tanaka has had a good season for the Yankees, notching a 9-6 record and a 3.61 ERA.
Saturday: Matt Wisler (5-4, 5.43 ERA) vs. Luis Severino (1-2, 2.74 ERA)
Like Friday’s starter Williams Perez, Matt Wisler also got shelled in his last start against the Chicago Cubs and will look to reverse his recent misfortunes at home. Only 4 of Wisler’s 12 starts this season have been at home, and he has pitched significantly better at Turner Field. Wisler has a 3.65 ERA at Turner Field as opposed to a 6.53 ERA on the road.

Severino is looking like he has a bright future in the Yankee’s rotation, as he has found success this season. Look for this matchup to be close throughout.
Sunday: Julio Teheran (9-6, 4.29 ERA) vs. Nathan Eovaldi (13-2, 4.00 ERA)
In the rubber game of the series, Teheran opposes former Miami Marlin Nathan Eovaldi. Julio Teheran has been superb at home this season, possessing a 2.55 ERA and a 7-1 record at Turner Field. Teheran has also had an excellent month, going 3-0 in 5 starts to go along with 2.73 ERA. After struggling for the better part of the season, especially on the road, Teheran seems to have righted the ship.
Look for Freddie Freeman and Andrelton Simmons to have success against Eovaldi. Simmons is 7 for 23 against him with 2 triples while Freddie Freeman is 7 for 32 with 1 homer and 5 RBI’s.
