Atlanta Braves Shutout by Fish, Lose 13th of 14
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Braves continue to give RHP Shelby Miller no run support as he gets the loss tonight despite giving up one earned run.
Our Atlanta Braves are toothless folks. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution had an article out today by Mark Bradley that said that our beloved Atlanta Braves are now the worst team in baseball. Say anything now if you disagree… Didn’t think so.

The Atlanta Braves offense mustered just three hits tonight. 1990’s Swedish Pop quartet Ace Of Base had more hits (4) in their heyday than Atlanta had all night. Shelby Miller again pitched seven strong innings with his only mistake being a solo shot off the bat of Cole Gillespie in the top of the second inning. Miller lowered his ERA to 2.56 tonight as the Braves offense gave him his 12th defeat of the season. Shelby has now gone winless in his last 19 starts for the Atlanta Braves, essentially two-thirds of the regular season.

It was a great pitchers’ duel before blisters got the best of Miami’s LHP Chris Narveson in the bottom of the sixth inning and Miller was promptly removed from the game before the top of the eighth inning when Christian Yelich came in to pinch hit.
Then Matt Marksberry came in gave up two earned runs on two hits in his eighth inning of work. His ERA of 5.63 is somehow better than that of the two guys who pitched the ninth for Atlanta. Peter Moylan and his 6.23 ERA surrendered another earned run on two hits in his two outs of work. Ryan Kelly came in a got his lone out to lower his ERA to 8.10.
At the end of the day, the box score will indicate that the Atlanta Braves lost 4-0 to the Miami Marlins on Monday, August 31st, 2015. The game was much closer than the score indicates. This was Shelby Miller’s game to win but the Braves bats wanted no part of it.
Our Atlanta Braves have lost 6 straight games, all at Turner Field and 13 of their last 14 games. Miami sits just a game and a half back of the Braves with two more games left in the series. We don’t even know who are starting pitchers are in the final two games of the season. Our pets heads are falling!

And just when I started to like Jonny Gomes a bit for his late inning heroics on the mound in Game 1 with the New York Yankees on Friday night, he was promptly traded to the Kansas City Royals by the Atlanta Braves for a Single-A middle infield prospect. These are dark days for the Atlanta Braves. This team is spiraling completely out of control into miserable disaster. At least the roster expands to 40 men tomorrow so that’s cool I guess.
I’m starting to seriously think this 54-77 team will lose 100 games this year, finishing 2015 with an 8-23 record. With the way the club is playing entering September, this isn’t an impossibility any more. All aboard the Event Horizon! Go Braves!
