Atlanta Falcons: 5 Players to Watch Vs. Ravens
By John Buhler
Who knows what we’re going to see when veteran QB Rex Grossman takes some snaps under center in Preseason Week 4 for the Atlanta Falcons. Grossman is extremely knowledgable of OC Kyle Shanahan’s scheme on offense, as Rex has spent what is going on six seasons on the same team with Shanahan.
Matt Ryan is the obvious starter, but neither TJ Yates or Sean Renfree have commanded the backup gig entering the final game of the preseason. Though Yates looked okay against the Miami Dolphins, neither Renfree or Grossman played in the 3rd Week of the Preseason.

The plan was to allow Grossman to get into ‘football shape’ before taking some snaps in the final preseason game. Should he show competence in the system, he could make the roster as a 3rd quarterback should Quinn wish to go that way or even with the 2nd string spot outright if both Yates and Renfree struggle.
Playing within the system will help Grossman’s case, but he may have just been brought into Flowery Branch to further amp up the QB race. Either way Rex Grossman will play tomorrow night, so that’s entertaining, right?
