The Georgia Bulldogs will have a new starting quarterback when the ULM Warhawks play at Sanford Stadium.  After a long QB battle this summer, it was UVA transfer Junior Greyson Lambert that won the right to open the Georgia Bulldogs’ 2015 season as their starting quarterback.

Lambert came to UGA late in the summer, having to complete his studies at the University of Virginia so that he could graduate and transfer without sitting out a season.  Greyson is a Georgia native, growing up in the Southeastern part of the state in Jesup.

More from UGA Football

Lambert had more starting experience than both Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta combined, albeit playing for a pretty mediocre UVA team.  Richt and Schottenheimer said that his previous playing experience didn’t factor into him winning the starting gig, but probably allowed him to pick up on a new offensive system so quickly.  He only had 29 practices with Georgia before being named starter!

Is Greyson Lambert going to turn heads with his quarterbacking abilities like Matthew Stafford and Aaron Murray once did Between the Hedges?  Probably not, but he should have the composure to play within Schotty’s system and spend plenty of time handing the football off to Nick Chubb and Company.

It seems like the right way to go with the Georgia Bulldogs’ offense this fall is to have another game manager like Hutson Mason call the shots since UGA is so incredibly deep at tailback.  Will Lambert play well in his UGA debut or will he crumble under the pressure in Week 1 vs. ULM?  Let’s hope it’s the former.
