Sony Michel enters 2015 number two on the UGA RB depth chart.  It should read more like 1A. Nick Chubb and 1B. Sony Michel.  Both 5-stars came to Georgia in the same 2014 Recruiting Class, hoping to work together in tandem over their time in Athens to bring the Georgia Bulldogs their first National Title in over 35 years.

Michel had a strong beginning and finish with the Dawgs as a true freshman last fall.  It was a shoulder injury suffered against the Tennessee Volunteers that derailed his first season playing Between the Hedges.  Sony Michel had to miss the next five games for the Dawgs, all SEC Conference games.

Sony’s blazing speed is another outstanding weapon in Brian Schottenheimer’s arsenal.  Michel’s explosiveness on the gridiron gets fans out of their seats.  He’ll be even faster and more effective given the deep rotation of backs for Georgia this fall.

I expect Sony Michel to break at least one very long run against ULM on Saturday afternoon for one score.  He will get his fair share of carries in Week 1, but don’t expect Sony to do the heavy lifting as UGA will need him for the long haul in 2015 should the Georgia Bulldogs want to play in very meaningful football games as the season comes to a close.

With the entire College Football world’s full attention on Nick Chubb, Sony Michel could potentially challenge Nick as the best tailback on the team, perhaps the entire country with a strong sophomore campaign for the Georgia Bulldogs.
