In an effort to get as many of the Georgia Bulldogs’ ferocious outside linebackers on the field at the same time, at least one of the guys will have to take on some additional defensive roles that make that dream a reality.  Entering 2015, that man is OLB Leonard Floyd.

According to DC Jeremy Pruitt, Floyd “will play everywhere.”  Known for his prowess as a pass rusher, his athleticism gives him the ability to play multiple positions for the Georgia Bulldogs.  The defensive staff has said that Floyd can play both inside and outside at linebacker, drop back into the coverage and assume the LB/S hybrid position that is STAR, and even line up at defensive end if need be.

So where will Leonard Floyd line up tomorrow?  At one or all the mentioned positions?  That’s what makes Leonard Floyd the player I’m most excited about to see play on the defensive side of the football in Week 1 vs. the ULM Warhawks.  Floyd is capable of bringing the pass rush from all three layers of the UGA defense.

By having Leonard Floyd play up to four different positions on defense, it allows players like Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy to play more as outside linebackers, and not just as situational pass rushers.  The blitz will be coming from all over the gridiron on Saturday.  UGA is about to have a backfield party at Sanford tomorrow afternoon!
