John Theus: Can He Finish First Team All-SEC?

facebooktwitterreddit

John Theus has big expectations in his Senior season with the Georgia Bulldogs.

John Theus came to Athens in 2012 as a major offensive line prospect out of The Bolles School in Jacksonville.  It was a close recruiting battle with arch rival Florida, but Georgia came out on top for John Theus’ services the next four seasons.  John was a Top 25 recruit in the 2012 High School Graduating Class.

John has improved every season wearing the Red and Black, starting at left tackle the last two seasons.  Theus was one of three UGA seniors to represent the program down in Hoover, Alabama for SEC Media Days earlier this summer.

  • John Theus was also one of nine Georgia Bulldogs named to a Preseason All-SEC team by the SEC Coaches.  Theus, sensational Sophomore RB Nick Chubb, senior Kicker Marshall Morgan, and leader of the defense Senior OLB Jordan Jenkins all earned first team honors. Will John anchor the offensive line and stay on the first team when the 2015 season comes to an end?

He has all the talent to succeed at protecting Greyson Lambert‘s blind side.  This is the third quarterback in as many seasons that John Theus will have to help keep upright: Aaron Murray in 2013, Hutson Mason in 2014, and now UVA Transfer Junior Greyson Lambert.

Since former Senior leader C David Andrews departed for the NFL after four solid years with the Dawgs, John Theus has commanded the leadership role on the Georgia offensive line vacated by Andrews.  Georgia will have a new starting member on their offensive line in the versatile sophomore LG Isaiah Wynn, as former LG Brandon Kublanow moves to starting center.

I feel that 2015 is the year that John Theus puts it all together for the Georgia Bulldogs and leads arguably one of the best offensive lines in the country to a New Year’s Six Bowl Game.  Does that mean UGA will make the Playoff or does that mean UGA will get an invite to the Peach Bowl?  For any of that to happen, the team will have to start and finish strong.

Up front, if Georgia wants a Top 5 Offensive Line, players like Senior LT John Theus will have to rise to the occasion in 2015.  I feel that Theus steps up his game even more this fall and is one of the Top 5 offensive linemen in the SEC. If he is able to elevate his game, he will ultimately make the All-SEC 1st Team this season.
