Atlanta Braves: 5 Stages of Grief with The Rebuild
By John Buhler
Stage 2: Anger
Why is John Hart doing this? Why is Freddie Gonzalez still managing our team? This is so stupid because we were good enough to make the playoffs. Why are all of my favorite players gone? I’m giving up on baseball until we’re good again. I hate what the Atlanta Braves are doing!
I can understand why you’re upset. Losing and failing for the first time for many of us isn’t easy. It’s especially difficult when you have absolutely no control over what’s going on. Do you think that by personally boycotting the Atlanta Braves until they are good again will serve anyone? This team had a great run, but we have to understand that we can’t control the decisions others make with our favorite baseball team.

Losing 12 straight ball games, 20 of the last 21, and winning two measly games on the road since getaway day in Milwaukee on July 7th is impossible to stomach. We can call our team The Barves, we can ask for Fredi Gonzalez‘s resignation daily, we can send Hart or Coppy hate emails every day if we wanted to, but what point would that prove?
This organization needed a reality check. It had to realize that Frank Wren had this team heading in a bad direction, so Hart and company had no choice but to rectify his errors in front office judgement. It has to get worse before it gets better, but I didn’t think it was going to end up in truly unwatchable baseball for the final three months of the season. Thank goodness football season is here. If the Atlanta Braves are the only team you proudly support, I’m sorry for your current situation.
