The RB Group Is As Deep As We Originally Thought
In Week 1 versus the ULM Warhawks, we saw the UGA tailbacks combine for over 250 yards on the ground. Nick Chubb broke the century mark for the 9th consecutive time, accounting for two rushing touchdowns. Keith Marshall had over 70 yards on the ground and two scores of his own. Sony Michel took a Brice Ramsey screen pass to the house in the backfield. Brendan Douglas made it four UGA RBs that averaged at least 5.0 YPC in the home opener with his strong burst up the middle in the second half.
We said the same thing about the Dawgs last year with those four and Todd Gurley leading the bevy of Bulldogs running backs. However, injuries and the Todd Gurley suspension relegated the quintet to a duo with just Chubb and Douglas left to carry the rock for the Dawgs against Missouri and Arkansas.

My absolute favorite part about the entire game yesterday was Keith Marshall’s strong performance. If he can stay healthy, he could become the great change-of-pace back for Nick Chubb in 2015. Then again, I feel like we have 3 strong ones already including Marshall, Michel, and Douglas. Though we didn’t see AJ Turman yesterday, I have to believe that he will get some carries as well this season.
While I could construe yesterday’s performance from the running backs as an affirmation to the depth on the team, I really felt that anything Keith Marshall was going to provide the group was an added bonus. If he’s as big of a factor in the final 11 regular season games for the Georgia Bulldogs this season, UGA will be an undeniable ground force for the SEC to reckon with in 2015.
