The Georgia Bulldogs did what they needed to do against the ULM Warhawks in the first game of 2015, winning 51-14 in a lightning shortened game.  The Dawgs rushing attack looks second to none in College Football with Nick Chubb, Brendan Douglas, Keith Marshall, and Sony Michel all averaging at least 5.7 YPC in Week 1.

The pass rushing efforts from the front seven terrorized in Week 1.  Expect that to continue as the season progresses.  On special teams, the Dawgs look very deep even with K Marshall Morgan not at 100% (groin) and KR Isaiah McKenzie not playing at all (hamstring).  Players like Reggie Davis, Collin Barber, and DeAndre Walker all made big plays for the Dawgs in the third phase of the game.

Our Georgia Bulldogs benefit from a schedule that gradually ramps up.  UGA will not play a ranked team in their first four games.  Then Alabama comes to town in what will likely be a College GameDay atmosphere on Saturday, October 3rd.  That middle part of the schedule with Bama, Tennessee, and Mizzou is crucial if the Dawgs see themselves as a true Playoff Contender.

While I’m not ruling out Mizzou or Tennessee claiming the top spot in the SEC East this season, it’s the Georgia Bulldogs’ to lose.  Outside of Florida and maybe Mizzou, I thought that UGA was the only team to dominate their opposition in Week 1.  Southeastern Missouri State isn’t Division 1 and New Mexico State rarely fields a strong football team.  ULM has been a giant killer in years past and the Dawgs made that impossible with their strong Week 1 performance.

UGA will travel to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt in both schools’ SEC opener.  Georgia should enter Week 2 as an overwhelming favorite, but the Dawgs have not played well at Vandy in their last two trips.  Here’s to UGA anchoring the ‘Dores early in the first half with a dominating victory on Saturday to open up Conference Play.  After the first week of the College Football Season, the Dawgs are still on top!
