The Georgia Bulldogs travel to the Music City to take on SEC East rival Vanderbilt in both schools’ SEC opener of 2015 on Saturday afternoon.

Georgia enters Week 2 of the 2015 season fresh off a 51-14 beat down of the ULM Warhawks back in Athens.  The Dawgs would have likely scored close to 60 points in that game had it not been called due to lightning in the area with 9:54 minutes remaining in the 4th Quarter.

Vanderbilt lost at home to Western Kentucky in a nail biter last week 14-12.  Vandy’s defense looks improved under second-year HC Derek Mason and if not for a few turnovers and miscues in the red zone offensively, Vandy could have won their home opener over a strong Hilltoppers offense.

On Saturday, the SEC slate of games is officially underway.  UGA will play Vandy, LSU goes to Starkville, Kentucky travels to Columbia, SC to face USC, among others.  It does not matter if your team is a Playoff hopeful or just trying to make a bowl game, all 14 teams in the SEC get very excited for Conference Play.

I see the Vanderbilt game as an opportunity for the Georgia Bulldogs to flex their muscles on the road against a down on its luck division rival.  A commanding road victory over Vanderbilt could help the Dawgs ascend higher in next week’s AP Top 25 Poll.  Georgia currently sits 10th in the most recent AP Poll.

With Georgia set to begin Conference Play in 2015, here are five defensive players to keep an eye on when the Dawgs take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville Saturday afternoon.  The game will be on CBS at 3:30 PM ET.
