John Theus is the undisputed leader of the UGA offensive line in 2015, taking over the role of the departed David Andrews, who now starts for the New England Patriots.  Theus can handle the heat on the outside as he has done so the last three years as a former blue chip prospect in the 2012 Recruiting Class.

However, if there was one negative takeaway from Saturday’s game against ULM, it was the inconsistent play of the blind side of the offensive line.  I get that the continuity isn’t there yet with Kublanow moving to center and Wynn now starting, but I expected a better performance from Theus in Week 1.  He earned 1st Team All-SEC Honors in the preseason.

If John Theus wants to earn All-SEC Honors as a Senior, he needs to amp up the intensity versus Vanderbilt and not let anybody touch Greyson Lambert in the pocket.  Through elevating his play even more than normal, that should inspire the play of Wynn and Kublanow to ascend as well.

Fortunately for the Georgia Bulldogs, the team won’t have to play a ranked opponent until Week 5 when Alabama comes to Athens.  That should stand as enough time to develop continuity across the entire offensive line.  Look for Theus to bring out the best in his fellow linemen in Week 2 versus Vanderbilt.
