MANAGERS
Are there any available managers? Probably. Anybody want the job? Asking for a friend. Just kidding. They extended Fredi Gonzalez so we get at least another year of his whimsical cap-tipping and curious bullpen mismanagement.
I would surmise that the logic of the Atlanta Braves front-office is that they will use Fredi Gonzalez as a placeholder as long as they can before they hire their own guy for the opening of SunTrust Park in Spring of 2017. It’s disappointing to see John Hart not go out this offseason and to hire a new manager — one who can have an extra year acclimating to the clubhouse and developing these players, but I don’t get paid the big bucks to make these big decisions.
Perhaps Fredi Gonzalez is once again a victim of a poorly constructed team? Maybe Fredi Gonzalez will have a better season next year if the front-office goes out and improves the club? Who knows? Regardless, Fredi is here to stay next year. Enjoy Braves fans!
