The Georgia Bulldogs were able to win their first Conference Game of 2015 with a hard-earned road victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores, 31-14 Saturday.

While many members of Dawg Nation wanted a convincing win from Georgia over Vanderbilt early on Saturday, UGA didn’t seal the deal against the ‘Dores until S Dominick Sanders returned a Johnny McCrary interception for an 88-yard touchdown late in the 4th Quarter.

I’ll credit VU HC Derek Mason for improving his Commodores defense, making it difficult for UGA to routinely find the end zone on offense.  Where the game was ultimately decided was in the turnover differential.  McCrary’s three interceptions severely hurt Vanderbilt’s chances to compete with Georgia offensively.

But this wasn’t a complete game for the Georgia Bulldogs, as the passing and kicking games left a lot of points on the field.  UGA leaned on its deep stable of running backs and its strong defense to anchor Vanderbilt in Week 2.

Georgia did many things well in their SEC opener, but do need to improve in a few areas if the Dawgs want to contain SEC East rival South Carolina at home next week.  Without further ado, here are my five biggest takeaways from the Georgia Bulldog’s Week 2 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
