Concerns at Quarterback

Going into 2015, Dawg Nation knew that it was the running backs that would carry the Georgia offense.  When you have tailbacks like Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, it’s easy to build an offensive game plan around them.  But even if you RB corps has three former 5-Star recruits in it, you still need to have your quarterback be able to convert on the occasional passing situation.

The Georgia Bulldogs only threw for a combined 141 yards on 25 attempts between starter Greyson Lambert and backup Brice Ramsey.  UGA only completed 13 passes yesterday.  There were many opportunities for Lambert to move the chains with his tight ends and possession receivers, but was unable to connect at a high enough percentage to prevent Vanderbilt from stacking the box on most plays.

Though UGA has not thrown an interception in the first two weeks of the 2015 Season, it’s not comforting to have two QBs with sub 50 quarterback ratings against an SEC team.  Lambert was 11-21 for 116 yards and a QBR of 47.3.  Ramsey was 2-4 for 25 yards and a QBR of 28.8.

For UGA to beat major SEC foes like Alabama, Auburn, Missouri and Tennessee, the Georgia Bulldogs will have to improve in their passing game and have a more balanced offensive attack.  Sure, UGA can run more than they pass in 2015, but you have to believe that OC Brian Schottenheimer doesn’t want a 75-25 run-pass split this fall.  UGA ran the ball 41 times and passed 25 times in Week 2 vs. Vanderbilt.
