Jordan Jenkins is the Undisputed Leader of the Team

We knew that OLB Jordan Jenkins was going to rise up and be the leader of the UGA defense in 2015.  He leads both by performance and vocally for the 2015 Georgia Bulldogs.  However, after fellow OLB Lorenzo Carter’s ejection for targeting, Jenkins took it personally and made sure that UGA would not miss a beat in Carter’s absence.

Jenkins earned 1st Team All-SEC Preseason Honors at outside linebacker.  With his pass rushing and run stopping abilities, Jordan looks the part of an All-SEC, possibly All-American outside linebacker for the Georgia Bulldogs.  It was his dynamic competitiveness that set the tone for the UGA defense in the 1st Quarter of the Vanderbilt Game.

I’ve seen UGA teams in the past take their foot off the gas amidst adversity.  The Georgia Defense could have moped about Carter’s ejection, but Jordan Jenkins was having no part of that way of thinking.  Collectively, Jenkins, Leonard Floyd, and Davin Bellamy amped up the intensity at outside linebacker  and UGA’s defense was better because of it.

Georgia will again have to face adversity on the defensive side of the ball this season, but assuming that nothing bad happens to Jordan Jenkins, he will lead team to victory with his inspired play at linebacker.  I believe that he wants it more than any player on the field when he’s on the gridiron.  UGA is lucky to have a senior leader like Jordan Jenkins on their team this fall.
