It’s Good to Have The Human Joystick Back

After missing Week 1 versus the ULM Warhawks, KR/WR Isaiah McKenzie came back in a big way in Week 2 with a great punt return for a touchdown against Vanderbilt.  Before his 77-yard punt return for a touchdown, I-Mac apparently signaled that he was going to score on that kick.  While I don’t condone calling your shots like Babe Ruth, I’m glad it worked out for The Human Joystick in his 2015 debut.

Not all that long ago, UGA had to resort to fair catch after fair catch in its punt return game.  The revamped special teams unit split between Mike Ekeler and John Lilly has been a crucial part of the Dawgs’ game the last fifteen games.  Isaiah McKenzie is more than earning that last-minute scholarship in 2014 with every great return of his.

Outside of that 77-yard punt return touchdown, Isaiah had one catch for 15 yards and one rushing attempt for 24 yards.  With I-Mac’s health on his side going forward, it will be interesting to see how OC Brian Schottenheimer uses McKenzie going forward.

Whether he’s returning kicks, catching passes in the slot, or running jet sweeps, expect Isaiah McKenzie to make an impact for the Georgia Bulldogs when he is on the field for them the next few seasons.  It’s good to have The Human Joystick back in uniform.
