Georgia Has Many Ball Hawkers on Defense

The Georgia Bulldogs forced three interceptions on Vanderbilt QB Johnny McCrary yesterday.  Reggie Wilkerson had one playing the STAR, Jake Ganus had one at inside linebacker, and Safety Dominick Sanders to one to the house for an 88-yard game sealing interception in the 4th Quarter.

Georgia now has 4 interceptions in two games this season with 4 different defensive players having one apiece.  Aaron Davis had the lone interception against ULM last week.  Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt has to feel pretty confident about his defense’s ability to make plays on the football.

We knew that the pass rush would stand as the focal point for UGA defensively in 2015, but if the Georgia Bulldogs can keep up their ballhawking ways, this Georgia defense could stand as one of the best in College Football.  UGA has allowed 14 PPG in both of its games this season.

I mentioned that the secondary would need to improve before Alabama comes to Athens in Week 5.  Taking advantage of McCrary’s errant throws were certainly a step in the right direction for the UGA DBs.  Look for the unit to continue to improve against South Carolina next weekend at Sanford Stadium.
