Nick Chubb is a Serious Heisman Contender

While I’m sure that Nick Chubb will have a more dynamic game in the coming weeks, he looked like a Heisman finalist against Vanderbilt, rushing for 189 yards on 19 carries yesterday afternoon.  He nearly had a 92-yard touchdown run, but Chubb briefly stepped out of bounds at the Vanderbilt 24 yard line.

His yards per carry average against Vanderbilt was almost 10.  Chubb has now rushed for over 100 yards in each of his last ten games since being named the UGA starting running back.  The guy rushed for 189 yards on the road against a division rival and we’re treating it like it’s no big deal.  Dawg Nation has come to expect weekly 100 performances from the Pride of Cedartown.

It’s game like the one that Nick Chubb had against Vanderbilt that solidify a strong Heisman resume.  Until last year’s winner Oregon QB Marcus Mariota went off on arch rival Oregon State in the Civil War, it was the consistently strong weekly performances of Mariota that made him the Heisman Trophy Winner.

Nick Chubb hasn’t had his Heisman moment yet, but we know it’s coming.  Chubb has rushed for 309 yards on 35 carries and 2 touchdowns in his first two games of 2015.  Here’s to having an absolute blast watching Nick Chubb run all season for our beloved Georgia Bulldogs.  Go Dawgs!
