People have talked about how badly they want Chipper Jones to come back and manage the Braves. And hey, I’m one of those people. But not now, maybe in the future. So for now, bring in someone like Tom Glavine to manage the Atlanta Braves. Not only has he always been a fan favorite, had his number retired recently and entered Cooperstown, but he hasn’t been in the league for a while and I can imagine that announcing games can only be so much fun. Glavine would have the potential to also work with Roger McDowell to develop young arms.

His advice and leadership would also probably prove invaluable, as he’s won a World Series before, so he knows what it takes to get there. Glavine is a guy that is extremely familiar with the Braves system, and would immediately be able to step in and make an impact. I don’t think that he would come back to the team any other way than as a manager. Maybe it’s still too early for him to come back, but it would certainly create a spark through the Braves nation. We’ve needed a pulse for a while, and getting Glavine as your skipper would absolutely do that.
