Georgia Bulldogs: Must Look Strong Vs. USC

facebooktwitterreddit

The Georgia Bulldogs will host SEC East rival, the South Carolina Gamecocks in their annual Savannah River Showdown.  UGA sits at #7 in the nation and USC is fresh off a rare home loss to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Week 3 in the College Football season is about one thing for the Georgia Bulldogs: showing up and not letting the Head Ball Coach play mind games with our football team.  UGA has rarely fared well against a Steve Spurrier coached team, whether the former Heisman Trophy winner was in Gainesville or Columbia.  The Head Ball Coach enjoys beating Georgia more than just about anybody.

The Georgia Bulldogs have lost four of their last five games against the South Carolina Gamecocks, winning at home in 2013 and that’s it.  Mark Richt simply cannot allow his football team to beat their chest after beating Vanderbilt in Nashville and exude pride for being the number seven team in the country.  The Dawgs absolutely must take care of business against a down on its luck USC team.

More from UGA Football

South Carolina will be with out starting QB Connor Mitch for over a month with a shoulder injury suffered in the Gamecocks SEC opener loss to UK on Saturday.  Perry Orth will be the man under center for South Carolina, but UGA should treat this game like it’s an SEC Championship.  Losing to USC would severely hurt the Bulldogs’ chances at a Playoff Bid.  This cannot be the annual Mark Richt letdown game, at home against a rival that will likely struggle to make a bowl game.

UGA and USC pretty much hate each other in one of the better SEC rivalries of the last decade.  Dawg Nation won’t have to listen to Sandstorm and roosters crowing all game, just Baba O’Riley and Elton John, just how we like it.

  • The pressure is all on the Georgia Bulldogs in this game and the Dawgs must deliver.  There are no excuses to not show up for an SEC home game on Saturday against a major conference rival.  If Georgia wants to confirm their spot comfortably in the Top 10 of the AP Top 25 Poll, they need to put on a dominating home performance against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

This is a night game in Athens, so you know that Sanford Stadium will rock and be a hostile road environment for USC.  After losing the Credit Card Game last year in Columbia, expect Senior leaders like Jordan Jenkins and Malcolm Mitchell to get their teammates so fired up to play this game.  I want players to give maximum effort every snap they’re on the field in Saturday’s rivalry game.  If he can’t promise that for the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, don’t bother dressing out.  Georgia needs to win this game.  It’s personal.  Georgia simply cannot lose five of six games to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Go Dawgs!  Beat Sakerlina!
