Florida has Kentucky’s number. No matter how close we think this annual affair might get, UF always comes out on top of UK. The Wildcats drop a tough one at 14-9 to their big SEC basketball rival in Florida.
As always, Kentucky plays well when the quarterback plays well. Junior Patrick Towles looked very bad against the strong Gators secondary, completing only 8-24 passes for 126 yards and 2 picks. RB Stanley Williams and the Big Blue Nation defense kept UK in this game. Not that the Wildcats had to win this one, but the internet didn’t exist the last time the Wildcats beat the Gators on the gridiron.
Fortunately for Kentucky is that their schedule looks very navigable in 2015. Auburn and Mississippi State may not contend for an SEC West title this year. Outside of UGA, the East looks down. And in-state rival Louisville still hasn’t won a game. Should UK continue to play good defense, run the football, and limit their interceptions, I like the Wildcats chances to go 7-5, maybe 8-4 and get to a bowl game this holiday season.
You have to like what HC Mark Stoops is building in Lexington. The Kentucky Wildcats will host SEC East foe Missouri at Commonwealth Stadium in a primetime game on the SEC Network. Kickoff is at 7:30 PM ET.

Call me crazy, but I think it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Florida Gators become a ranked team at some point this year. The Gators are 3-0 under new HC Jim McElwain and beat a decent Kentucky Wildcats team on the road on Saturday, 14-9.
The defense for UF looks as good as advertised and the offense is all about pounding the rock with Florida Gator RB Legacy Kelvin Taylor. His dad is none other than Jacksonville Jaguars Great RB Fred Taylor.
Should the Gators game manage at QB, whether it’s Will Grier or Treon Harris, UF has the ability to stay relevant in a down SEC East. However, the Gators have to beat rival Tennessee at home this week because their schedule is about to get especially tough. Their October games are as follows: Ole Miss, @ Missouri, @LSU, and GA/FLA. They’d be very lucky to split those four games.
So UF needs to handle their rough schedule one game at a time and carry their momentum into Week 4 when the Vols come to town. Kickoff is at 3:30 PM ET from The Swamp in this SEC East rivalry. UT hasn’t beaten UF in a decade.
