The Volunteers bounced back after a tough home loss to Oklahoma to beat the Western Carolina Catamounts handedly at home, 55-10. UT hopes to carry this momentum into The Swamp for their intense rivalry game with the Florida Gators.
I feel that, for different reasons, this is a must-win game for both the Gators and the Volunteers. UF’s schedule is about to get especially rough and UT needs a quality win over a rival they haven’t beat in a decade.
The 2nd Tier of the SEC East is wide open entering Week 4, with Tennessee eyeing the chance to get back into the AP Top 25 with a strong road win to open up Conference Play for Rocky Top. Tennessee does have the schedule advantage over Florida, where they do have some time after the UGA and Bama games to get in good position for a quality bowl.
The biggest question with UT is are they are Playoff Contender or a 7-5, 8-4 team in 2015? How the Volunteers play against Florida will ultimately send the program in one direction or the other the season. The Vols get the Gators on the CBS Game of the Week at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday.

Mizzou does it again. They nearly embarrassed themselves at home to a basketball school. The Tigers learned from their mistakes last year in their loss to Indiana and hold off the Connecticut Huskies 9-6. While the College Football world respects the Tigers for winning the SEC East two years in a row, they are making it difficult for themselves to stay comfortably in the AP Top 25.
Though Rock M Nation is 3-0, they haven’t played anybody of merit in 2015. They have by far the easiest schedule of anybody in the East, with a touch road game at Georgia and a strong BYU team later on down the road.
But surviving at home to a team like UConn should send red flags to those who think Mizzou can contend in the SEC this year. While their schedule gives them the edge over say the Georgia Bulldogs, the Tennessee Volunteers and the Florida Gators, I’m not sure how good this Mizzou team is.
We will begin to find out when Gary Pinkel’s Tigers travel to Lexington to face off with SEC East foe Kentucky in Mizzou’s SEC opener on Saturday. 7:30 PM ET kickoff from Commonwealth Stadium.
